Pakistan and the European Union have successfully completed the eighth session of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue, which took place in Islamabad. The discussions led to a shared agreement to strengthen economic, trade, and diplomatic ties between the two sides.
The high-level meeting was co-chaired by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. Both delegations examined various aspects of their bilateral relationship, with a particular focus on expanding trade under the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP+) program and assessing the results from the recently held EU-Pakistan Business Forum.
In addition to trade preferences, the dialogue addressed important areas of cooperation such as climate resilience, digital infrastructure, clean energy, and managed migration. Both parties reiterated their support for the EU-Pakistan Talent Partnership Roadmap, which seeks to improve legal avenues for workforce movement while addressing challenges related to unauthorized migration. The EU delegation also praised Pakistan's ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability in the broader region.
