The Venezuelan Health Ministry has confirmed at least 920 fatalities and over 4,500 injuries. However, United Nations aid officials warn that the final toll will rise significantly, as more than 50,000 people are currently reported missing under the debris. In response to the catastrophic scale of the emergency, the United States has temporarily eased financial sanctions to allow international rescue teams and heavy disaster-relief equipment to enter the country immediately.

Venezuela Quake: Death Toll Passes 900 as 50,000 Reported Missing
VoS - CARACAS — Northwestern and central Venezuela are facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis after being struck by powerful, back-to-back earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude. The disaster, which hit during a national public holiday, has caused massive structural failures in high-density urban areas, completely flattening numerous residential high-rises in Caracas and La Guaira.
