ISRO Successfully Tests "Gaganyaan" Emergency Escape System

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved a major milestone today with the successful high-altitude test of the Crew Escape System (CES) for the Gaganyaan mission. Launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, the test vehicle demonstrated the system’s ability to quickly pull the crew module away from the launch vehicle in the event of a mid-flight emergency. This successful demonstration brings India one step closer to its goal of launching its first manned spaceflight by late 2026 or early 2027. ISRO Chairman S. Somanath confirmed that all mission parameters were met, with the crew module splashing down safely in the Bay of Bengal for recovery. This test is critical because it ensures the safety of Indian astronauts during the most dangerous phases of ascent. As the "Gaganyaan" project gains momentum, international space agencies are taking note of India’s cost-effective and indigenous approach to human spaceflight, further solidifying the nation's position as a top-tier global space power.
