India deepens defence, energy ties with UAE during PM Modi visit

India and the United Arab Emirates moved to reinforce their strategic partnership with a new framework covering defence cooperation, energy security and technology collaboration during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Abu Dhabi. The agreements include work on defence industry cooperation, maritime security, cyber defence, training, secure communications and advanced technology, reflecting a broader effort by both governments to lock in a more structured long-term relationship. The visit also produced energy-related understandings that could strengthen India’s supply resilience during a volatile period in global oil markets. Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC said it would explore expanding crude storage in India and increasing liquefied petroleum gas cooperation with Indian partners.
