Russian Missile Strike Hits Ukraine Steel Plant, Killing Two and Injuring 14

The missile attack targeted the ArcelorMittal facility in Kryvyi Rih, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's hometown and one of Ukraine’s most important industrial centres. Two people were killed and 14 others injured, according to Ukrainian authorities and the company. The strike also damaged electricity infrastructure and equipment supporting steel production, disrupting operations at the site.

The attack came during a wider escalation in long-range strikes between Russia and Ukraine. Russian forces launched missiles and drones against several Ukrainian cities, while Ukraine carried out a major drone offensive against targets inside Russia. Russian authorities reported that the Ukrainian assault killed several people and damaged infrastructure in the Moscow region.

The latest attacks demonstrate the continuing vulnerability of Ukraine’s industrial infrastructure more than four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Steel production remains an important part of Ukraine’s economy, making major industrial facilities strategically and economically significant targets during the conflict.
