Online Regularization Portal Opens for 500,000 Migrants

The Spanish Ministry of Migration has officially opened its digital portal today for the extraordinary regularization of up to 500,000 undocumented migrants. The "Route DT6" pathway allows individuals who were physically present in Spain before December 31, 2025, to apply for a one-year residence and work permit. Applicants must prove five months of continuous stay and have no criminal record in Spain or their country of origin. The government has stressed that the deadline of June 30, 2026, is absolute and will not be extended under any circumstances. The initiative has drawn massive interest, with the government estimating that it could integrate a significant portion of the "shadow economy" into the formal social security system. While online applications are the preferred method, post offices (Correos) will begin accepting in-person filings next week to accommodate those without digital access. Legal experts are urging applicants to organize their medical records and entry stamps quickly, as immigration offices are already facing a backlog of nearly half a million unresolved cases from previous months.
