The situation in Gaza remains highly unstable as renewed Israeli strikes threaten to undermine efforts to maintain a ceasefire and move towards a longer-term political settlement.

According to reports, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza and the West Bank killed eight Palestinians on Friday, despite the US-brokered ceasefire. The latest casualties have added to concerns that the agreement remains extremely fragile and could be disrupted by further military action.
